The community garden at 340 Florence Road not only provides some tasty tomatoes, cucumbers, and herbs but it can also give opportunities for connecting with neighbors and friends.
A couple who had collected some milkweed pods with monarch butterfly cocoons a few weeks ago came back a week ago with a clear plastic carrying case containing butterflies which were all ready to be released. Monarch butterflies can now be seen flying over the garden.
The snapdragons and zinnias add color to the community garden and may be picked to brighten one’s home or given to a neighbor or friend.
The tomatoes are ripe for picking and eating. Although they may have a crack on them due to the rain, they may still be used for salads and sauces. Come with a neighbor to do some picking.
And there are some pumpkins! Come to the Cedarwood Association picnic on Saturday, August 25 and find out about a select-a-pumpkin watching activity.
